Happy Holidays everyone and welcome to our Virtual Potluck Holiday Party featuring Barenjager Honey Liqueur. The nice folks at Barenjager sent the Virtual Potluck group free bottles of this sweet liqueur and asked us to create something with it and share it with you. We could cook with it, bake with it, or simply use it in a drink. Since I was a bit short on time due to countless Christmas gatherings, I decided to go with the drink idea. Mark and I worked together and came up with this drink, the Barenjager Honeydew Julep. It's a sweet and fresh drink that has flavors of honey, melon, and the juice of a cucumber. We served it to our family to get their opinions last night and they agreed that it was quite sweet, but that it would be good as a summer drink to sip, or a digestive to have after a meal. I will say you must be a sweet drink fan or you may not like this one. But keep in mind, you can calm the sweetness by adding more club soda or maybe even more cucumber juice.
I'd also like to add that if you don't have the time to put this drink together, I think a great way to serve Barenjager Honey Liqueur would be just straight up, chilled in a small shot glass as an after dinner digestive. It's like a little shot of dessert!
